Nestlé launches new facility in Malaysia

Nestlé recently launched the Sri Muda Factory in Malaysia.

The company unveiled its newest manufacturing facility as part of the Group’s long-term growth strategy in the country. The Sri Muda Factory produces ready-to-drink products, including Milo and Nescafé for the domestic market and exports.

The launch of the new factory was officiated by Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj, Sultan of Selangor. Also in attendance was Chief Minister of Selangor, Tuan Mohamed Azmin Ali.

The factory shall boost the group’s ready-to-drink capacity by 60%. It has a build-up of over 40,000m², and resides within the Nestlé Shah Alam Factory Complex. The Complex is one of the largest factory sites in the country and at Nestlé worldwide, employing over 2,000 factory staff.

According to the Group investments of US$141.7 million in capex have been made, which has gone into expanding and scaling up its manufacturing infrastructure. Out of this amount, US$60 million was invested into the Sri Muda Factory.

A key product here is Milo Nutri G, which was launched earlier this year. It’s the world’s first Milo in a convenient PET bottle, providing ‘breakfast-on-the-go’. The PET manufacturing line for Milo Nutri G incorporates end-to-end automation. Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad has eight manufacturing facilities, which are based in Petaling Jaya and Shah Alam in Selangor, Chembong in Negeri Sembilan, as well as in Kuching, Sarawak.
