France is a beverage market saturated to a very high degree but which has been in decline for three years. PET consump- tion and processing are in direct proportion to the beverage market and so are also in decline - yet are still in a constant state of evolution. This declining market is basically a sad state of affairs, and at the same time a particular challenge for the beverage indus- try and their suppliers. Which is why the French beverage market and PET market is of particular interest, and why we are focussing on France in this PETplanet Regional Market Report. Additionally France is a model for other countries and markets in a similar situ- ation, and perhaps even an example for many countries still enjoying an increasing demand and who have not yet been faced with the problem of market saturation.
