TRADE SHOW PREVIEW 42 PET planet insider Vol. 11 No. 09/10 www.petpla.net K-Show 2010 ‘Visions in Polymers’ PETplanet Insider is pleased to present its preview of K 2010, the 18 th International Trade Fair for Plastics and Rubber, which will take place from October 27 – November 3, in Halls 1 – 17 at the Düsseldorf Fairgrounds. The K’ Show showcases the world’s leading suppliers of machinery, raw materials and auxiliaries as well as semi-finished products, technical parts and reinforced plastics. More than 3,000 exhibitors from all over the world had registered to take stands at K 2010 by the close of appli- cations in May 2009. The number includes established global leaders and newcomers to the business. Suppliers from Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and the USA as well as Asian manufacturers from China, Taiwan and India will be represented. They will be showing their machinery, technologies and services to an expected 200,000-plus visitors during the week. The last K Show, K 2007, attracted delegates from 56 countries – around 12,000 from the USA alone. As well as the EU, other major markets represented included South America, Australasia and a very strong contingent from Asia; over 20% of visitors were from the Far East. This year’s show will have a special presentation enti- tled ‘Visions in Polymers’, which will illustrate trends and developments already in the industry’s pipeline. Particular attention will be focused on energy efficiency and conserv- ing resources. The special presentation is being organised by the German plastics industry, led by the PlasticsEurope Deutschland e.V. association and Messe Düsseldorf. Visitors to K 2010 will be able to see innovations and new developments in raw materials and auxiliaries; semi- finished products, technical parts and reinforced plastics; and machinery and equipment for the plastics and rubber industry. In this show preview we feature a number of lead- ing companies over the following pages, which will give you a flavour of what to expect from exhibitors who are active in the PET industry and will have stands at K 2010. Integrated solutions for PET bottling Sidel Group, one of the world’s leading companies in beverage packaging solutions, will be showing a number of innovations in design, materials, technical and economic performance, and recyclability. It will be demonstrating technologies for blow moulds that maintain package quality, as well as integrated techno- logical innovations aimed at accelerating format changeo- vers, limiting maintenance and enhancing hygiene. Sidel will be holding demonstrations of lower-energy consumption blow moulding technologies; and will show- case ECO Services, a family of services designed to opti- mise the productivity of already installed packaging equip- ment and to help it reach full potential while reducing energy consumption.
