Its new generation of dryers will be represented by a Somos D200 dry air dryer with airflow of 200 m 3 /h and a module hopper system with drying hoppers from 50 to 300l. The company says that new design features are intended to achieve greater operating comfort and improvement in energy efficiency. The new process control of the rotary desiccant con- tainer of the D dryer takes a shorter time for regeneration of the drying agent, leading to more efficient energy usage. All module hoppers have their own control system struc- tured on a universal concept, which is intended to make addition of one or several drying hoppers easier. Small container mass production; hot-fill jars; returnable PET moulding technology Nissei ASB Machine Co. Ltd’s ASB-150DPW machine will be moulding 500ml jars in 18 cavities in a double-row configuration. The new machine has the same footprint as the ASB-150DP model but doubles the cavitation available to a maximum of 36. It can make containers with volumes ranging from 50ml to 1.5l at a rate of up to 4,050 bottles/ hr. Targeted applications range from small bottles to wide- mouth containers for foods. The machine is capable of processing PET, PLA, PC, and recycled PET in neck sizes up to 94mm. Energy costs are claimed to be reduced by up to 40%, compared to the single-row machine (see article page 37). The HSB-6M features ASB patented double-blow heat- set technology to mass-produce lightweight hot-fillable jars. Nissei ASB will also be showing PET returnable 5 gallon bottles, which are about 100g lighter than polycar- bonate equivalents and free of Bisphenol A.
