EDITOUR REPORT 16 PET planet insider Vol. 15 No. 06+07/14 www.petpla.net EDITOUR REPORT 16 for alternatives. At the time people here in the city were beginning to devise a more or less ordered system for collecting reusable refuse such as PET bottles. This is how we happened on PET“, explains Mr Carvalho. He proudly shows us the 5min film from a commercial magazine broadcast on Brazilian television, which was a real eye- opener for us as far as the products and tasks of the company are concerned. “One example of our printing work is road signs made from recycled plastic. These are not likely to be stolen on the open street, unlike signs made from metal, which have a comparably high scrap value. However, the other side of the coin is that we also undertake printing work on school material such as exercise books and folders. We are keen to show people while they are still young that you can make something worthwhile and useful from used PET bottles. In so doing Eco- placa’s primary emphasis is on the importance of obtaining the raw material from local sources. “We support six recycling initiatives in Sorocaba and these enable us to cover 40% of our PET require- ments. Ecoplaca has commissioned other companies to reprocess the PET bottles. In so doing it is, however, particularly important for Mr Carvalho that these companies should manufacture raw material of high quality. “If the bottles are not cor- rectly sorted during waste separation or washed, then I see and note this in my product at the end of the line”. This is why Ecoplaca has, for a long time, been cultivating a good relationship with its suppliers. In addition, the Sorocaba company is keen to ensure an adequate supply of raw mate- rial on the market, including in a future shaped by the demand for PET from China. www.ecoplaca.com.br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êOO VRRQ EH PDNLQJ 3UHIRUP &ORVXUH WHFKQRORJLFDOO\ WRJHWKHU 6DYH 5$: 0$7(5,$/6 UHGXFHG SODVWLF YROXPHV 6DYH (1(5*< OHVV HQHUJ\ FRQVXPSWLRQ 6DYH 7528%/( PRUH TXDOLW\ DQG KLJKHU SHUIRUPDQFH JXDUDQWHHG E\ D VROH VXSSOLHU )XOO ,163(&7(' RQOLQH TXDOLW\ FRQWURO VWDQG DORQH
