Intesa has an established reputation as a specialist digital decoration machine developer and designer of ceramic tile digital decoration solutions. The new system, called Colora Cap, is claimed to break new technological ground in closure production by introducing digital printing as a replacement for pad printing, the current standard. Sacmi says that the system allows high defi- nition decoration of caps directly on the line, during production, and eliminates the need to hold large stocks. It also allows users to change the decoration in real time, which, it asserts, offers significant competitive advantage in terms of flexibility; it enables unlimited different decorations without affecting output rates and with changeover times cut to nearly zero. Ultra-high decoration definition and an unlimited colour range facilitate much wider choices of printed images, without any operator intervention or change on the machine and regardless of cap size. HD images can be printed on caps in just a few minutes and even in small lots. Dedicated software allows customers to set the selected image directly without requesting assistance from a special- ised Sacmi technician. Total finished product quality is maintained by integration of Colora Cap with the CVS vision system, which checks that the decoration corresponds to the settings, directly on the line and at very high speed. Sacmi says that users will be able to take advantage of extremely wide output flexibility and to offer customers high levels of personalisation, including for projects such as promotional campaigns, special events and prizes, while enjoying more effective stock management.
