It is not maximum performance levels that are important to him, rather, it is making sure that service uptime is the best it can be, “What good are the best machines, if they’re left for 24h due to insuffi- cient service? They can be as energy efficient and as productive as you like, and they can save as much material as you like, but just one day of down- time cancels out all these efforts,” explains Tony. In order to add some degree of structure to this plethora of processes, different factories concentrate on different technologies.
