CAPS & CLOSURES 40 PET planet Insider Vol. 19 No. 03/18 www.petpla.net Closure production and mould manufacturing by Kay Barton The assembly and production division of Prospack Industry is situated near the city of Ayutthaya, the former capital city of the Kingdom of Siam, built around its famous “Histori- cal Park”. In addition to mould manufacturing, the company specialises in the production of caps and closures. In addition to local and regional customers, it supplies its products to a number of well-known multinational drinks producers in Thailand. We met with Managing Director Chaiying Sriprasert and talked about his business. Prospack Industry Co., Ltd., June 23, 2017 We met: Mr Chaiying Sriprasert, Managing Director “Prospack was founded in 1991 as a producer of caps and closures,” Mr Sriprasert said. “We started our business activities with four injection moulding machines and began by making closures for cooking oil bottles. Over the following years our business expanded, and we extended our activities into other fields. We started manufacturing plas- tic components for electrical appliances and for the automo- tive industry, before we finally integrated our mould manu- facturing business right here.” He indi- cated the assembly department, which is where the company manufactures injec- tion moulds for these fields. Prospack’s Ayut- thaya site basically consists of two large halls. Offices and meetings rooms adjoin the mould- manufacturing department, with closure production and storage space Tour Sponsors: located in the neighbouring hall. In the clean room, which we were only able to view through large panes of glass, were two Husky HyCap 225 models, along with testing equipment from IMD Vista. It is here that the company manufactures more than 1 billion clo- sures per year in 30/25 and 29/25mm formats; the majority are currently used for CSD and water production. “We regard the production of caps to be a highly sensitive activ- ity, in terms of quality, precision and speed. We therefore decided to use high-quality equipment from West- ern Europe and North America at an early stage,” Mr Sriprasert explained. Prospack’s moulds are primarily from Corvaglia, Husky, Wiro and Plastisud. Its key customers are bottlers such as Nestlé, Coca-Cola and PepsiCo. The company currently generates an annual turnover of approximately US$20 million, of which around 30% is accounted for the closure business. It employs approximately 350 people. www.prospack.com Prospack’s goods waiting to be delivered Colourful portfolio
