Tour Sponsors: Measom Freer, headquartered in the outskirts of Leicester, in England’s East Midlands, was founded in 1937 as a manufacturer of buttons and trimmings for the clothing trade. It was the UK’s first producer of plastic shoe heels. By the early 1960s it established a toolmaking subsidiary in order to give it more control over the quality and functionality of the tools it needed. A few years later, it expanded into blow moulding and began producing bottles for wider markets, including cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. Blow moulding also meant the company could start producing technical mouldings, such as bellows. It established a habit of investing in technology to open new lines and develop new markets.
