54 K 2025 PREVIEW PETplanet Insider Vol. 26 No. 09/25 www.petpla.net Advanced hot runner solutions for luxury, eco-friendly applications Oerlikon HRSflow will present its latest hot runner technologies tailored to the beauty and personal care industry. Engineered specifically for the production of luxury and sustainable packaging using PET materials, these solutions meet the growing market demand for premium aesthetics combined with environmentally responsible choices. The trade show appearance is being organised in close collaboration with Oerlikon HRSflow’s sister brand, Oerlikon Balzers, highlighting the group’s integrated approach. In the beauty and personal care sector, clarity, significant wall thickness, and sustainability have become essential packaging requirements. As luxury brands increasingly embrace eco-friendly materials and sustainable production, PET has emerged as a leading material due to its durability, recyclability, and design versatility. However, PET presents specific processing challenges for hot runner systems, mainly related to the cosmetic appearance of the injection gate. These include splay formation, white mushroom effect, and crystallisation spots, all of which can compromise the premium appearance of the final product. At the show, Oerlikon HRSflow will unveil hot runner solutions specifically optimised for high-end cosmetic packaging using the latest generation of polyesters that are fully compatible with the most stringent European PET bottle grade recycling stream. Key benefits include crystal clear luxury appeal, high process repeatability, wall thickness up to 12mm and the prevention of typical flow marks often appearing in these applications, explains the company. Among the latest innovations on display is a new application produced using Eastman Cristal One Renew IM812 - a recycled and recyclable resin offering a glass-like shine appearance. Thanks to molecular recycling, this material ensures consistent colour with up to 100% recycled content and enables the moulding of components with massive thickness, ideal for high-end and design-driven packaging. Oerlikon HRSflow provides a partner approach in supporting with mould design and tailored solutions for optimal gate conditioning in this high demanding market segment. The company also delivers comprehensive rheological analysis and guidance in developing application-specific solutions based on the selected polymer, helping to fine-tune the moulding process. For special applications, Oerlikon HRSflow defines the ideal hot runner system configuration and predicts part quality through advanced hot runner systems available in its Test Lab. www.hrsfl ow.com Oerlikon HRSflow Hall 1 Booth C72 Advancing rPET and fibre packaging solutions With 70 years of experience Kiefel, the specialist in thermoforming and joining technologies, will showcase its broad portfolio for the packaging, medical & pharmaceutical, appliance and service sectors. New SPEEDFORMER KTR 6.2 Speed On highlight at the Kiefel booth will be the SPEEDFORMER KTR 6.2 Speed, a new generation of thermoforming, which optimises both material consumption and line performance, says the company. The machine produces high-quality cups, from a range of materials including rPET. Various rPET materials were tested in advance in close collaboration with film partner Coexpan. At the Kiefel booth, visitors will gain insights into test results – and see how recyclability and high-quality design can be ideally united in cup production. Technologically, the machine has newly developed features with patents pending. These include the intelligent SpeedGuard film guide and the high-performance ProSpacing system, which is claimed to ensure higher output even when handling varying product geometries. In addition, visitors can experience the digital twin of the machine live at the Siemens booth (hall 3, stand D16) and see for themselves the practical advantages of holistic project support. www.kiefel.com Kiefel Hall 3 Booth D90
