Company Profile
EUROPEN is the European Organisation for Packaging and the Environment and represents the packaging industry value chain.
EUROPEN aims to achieve a fully accessible European market for packaging and packaged products, while protecting the product and the environment.
The objectives are expressed as follows:
- Continuous improvement of the environmental performance of packaging and packaged products along the entire supply chain
- Promotion of the role, functionalities and benefits of packaging within all relevant EU policies
- To achieve a harmonised policy framework and a functioning EU internal market for packaging and packaged products
EUROPEN conveys expert information, data, opinions and policy options to their members and EU policy stakeholders about the environmental, economic and social aspects of sourcing, manufacturing, marketing, distribution and end of life of packaging and packaged products.
EUROPEN promotes legislation that is transparent, effective, and proportionate in relation to packaging and packaging waste and enabling the members to innovate, compete and operate in a resource efficient, competitive and sustainable way.
EUROPEN is open to any company with an economic and sustainability interest in packaging and packaged products and counts on 66 corporate members spanning the whole packaging supply chain, from raw material producers, converters, packers/fillers and brand owners, as well as on 13 national packaging associations.
The members bring a shared commitment to improve the environmental performance of their packaging and packaged products and are actively engaged in making the industry sustainable through continuous innovation.
EUROPEN corporate members have made significant commitments towards environmental improvements that go beyond legislative targets such as on recycled content, recyclability, resource efficiency and packaging optimisation, as well as materials sourcing.
The association is governed by a General Assembly comprised of all corporate and national organisation members.
Currently 84 EUROPEN members are representing the entire packaging value chain.
