R&D/Leverage Europe announces renewed commitment to apprenticeships
Apprentices have been a key part of R&D/Leverage Europe’s employment strategy for several decades. As the world emerges from Covid-19 restrictions it has renewed its commitment to the recruitment and training of youngsters from its home area of Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, in England’s East Midlands.
Students initially come for short periods of work experience from as young as 14 and are eligible for full-time employment from age 16. In-house mentors and training coordinators provide full support throughout five-year apprenticeships.
R&D/Leverage apprenticeship courses run from Level 2 & 3 National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) to level 4 Higher National Certificate (HNC) or level 5 higher national diploma (HND), which can be ‘topped up’ by a year of full-time study to Bachelor degree level.
Apprenticeships combine workplace training and classroom-based education, usually a day a week. R&D/Leverage works closely with two local colleges, which supply the right type of course, training and support in state-of-the-art facilities, with industry standard equipment.
The company continually invests in machinery and innovative technologies to ensure apprentices have access to the most up-to-date equipment and working procedures. Recruits gain hands-on experience from basic to more complex duties, which enables them to take on more responsibility and gain more knowledge. This structured progression takes them all the way to advanced CNC machines.
