Kirin Namacha beverage comes label-less with paper adhesive seals
Kirin Beverage Company Limited will start trial sales of the product Kirin Namacha at some retailers in the Tokyo area from 7 June, offering a paper sticker instead of a common label.
The product does not use a label wrapped around the 525ml PET bottle itself, but comes with a small adhesive paper label with the required labelling information. Kirin has developed these new paper adhesive seals in collaboration with Fuji Seal Co Ltd.
By introducing the paper adhesive seal and conducting test sales of this product, Kirin intends to further promote the development of environmentally friendly products and encourage plastic reduction initiatives.
The small paper adhesive seal on the bottle contains the required information. The adhesive is claimed to be easy to remove from the PET bottle and to leave no residue. The label is easier to peel off than normal labels, making it easier to sort used PET bottles, states the company.
The amount of plastic used for the product’s label is about 7% of the amount used for the same sized version which has the label wrapped around the PET bottle itself.
