Vöslauer Mineralwasser further expands market leadership in near water segment

Mineral water producer Vöslauer Mineralwasser GmbH from Austria sees a clear trend in zero-calorie flavoured near water applications based on the growing interest in its Vöslauer “Flavours” product range. The market leader in Austria currently has a 50 % market share in the zero-calorie segment, which is double that of the previous year, according to Managing Director Birgit Aichinger.

The Flavours range is natural, sparkling mineral water with some flavour and no calories, available in Austria in “Himbeere” (raspberry), “Zitrone” (lemon), “Orange” and “Schwarze Johannesbeere” (blackcurrant). Since March, the “Plus” varieties “Flavours Ingwer-Lemon Plus Koffein” (ginger-lemon plus caffeine) and “Flavours Pfirsich-Lime Plus Zink” (peach-lime plus zinc) with useful and healthy additives have now been added.

The portfolio of Near Water products includes six varieties of “Balance Juicy” (Apple-Cranberry, Strawberry-Pepper, Raspberry-Lemon, Mango-Peach, Red Grape, Lemon), each with 7 % fruit juice content and little sugar, with a maximum of 13 kcal per 100 ml. Here, too, the bottler offers its Plus additives for the varieties “Sonnenfrüchte Plus Vitamin D” (sun fruits plus vitamin d), “Rote Früchte-Echinacea Plus Vitamin C” (red fruits-echinacea plus vitamin c) and “Mate-Limette Plus Caffeine und dem B-Vitamin Niacin“ (mate-lime plus caffeine and the B vitamin Niacin). According to marketing manager Yvonne Haider, this brings Vöslauer Mineralwasser’s total market share in the near-water segment to 28% compared to the beginning of the year.

In terms of packaging, the manufacturer relies on PET returnable bottles in addition to PET disposable and a small proportion of glass bottles, such as for the products “Balance Juicy Plus Sonnenfrüchte” (sun fruits) and “Rote Früchte” (red fruits).
Non-returnable PET bottles are consistently produced from 100% rPET.
