Shanghai World of Packaging attracted 30,000 visitors and 900 exhibitors

After a four year break, the Shanghai World of Packaging (swop) 2023 took place from 22nd to 24th of November at the Shanghai New International Expo Center and welcomed visitors from China, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, South America, and Europe.

Swop was jointly organized by Messe Düsseldorf (Shanghai) Co, Ltd. and Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd. Over the three days of the exhibition, leading industry representatives, professionals, and visitors from around the world gathered to discuss the latest technologies and trends in the sector. Going forward, swop will be an annual event.

Visitors and exhibitors

With an exhibition space of over 62,000m2, this year’s swop attracted nearly 900 exhibitors from both domestic and international markets, welcoming 30,000 visitors from 99 countries and regions – compared to 22,997 in 2019. Thus, the three-day event experienced a 14% increase in attendance compared to the previous edition.

Among the exhibitors were prominent Chinese and international companies such as Multivac, Demag, Kuka, Youngsun, Tederic, Eiahe, and Zhongya, generating significant interest at the exhibition.

Future Packaging Trends

With a focus on sustainable packaging and the reduction of CO2 emissions, swop 2023 introduced a new thematic area – the “Green Power Zone.” More than 150 exhibitors showcased a variety of environmentally friendly packaging materials, production equipment, and solutions designed to assist packaging companies and brands in achieving their sustainability goals.
