Siegwerk, Tripack and Multi-Plastics combine forces to unveil an APR approved shrink sleeve on a clear PET water bottle at Label Expo Americas 2024
Siegwerk, Multi-Plastics, and Tripack have collaborated on a new fully recyclable shrink sleeve water bottle for the English Mountain Spring Water Company, which will be showcased at Label Expo Americas 2024 from September 10-12 in Chicago, IL. This project, approved by the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR), reflects a collective focus on advancing sustainable packaging solutions within the industry.
Multi-Plastics contributed its Envirocycle PET shrink sleeve film, made with 30% post-consumer recyclate, to enhance the structural integrity of the bottle. Siegwerk provided its Cirkit de-inking primer and Sicura Orbis ink technology to ensure the bottle’s recyclability by enabling clean ink removal during the recycling process. Tripack’s role in the project involved the precise application of the PET shrink sleeves onto the bottles, ensuring a seamless integration.
This collaboration adheres to APR’s guidelines for recyclable packaging, with each component of the shrink sleeve label—materials, inks, and design—meeting the preferred standards for PET recycling. The project is claimed to demonstrate the three companies’ commitment to aligning technical innovation with environmental responsibility in the packaging sector.
