Secondary packaging

SMI – Hall 7A | Booth 503

SMI will present its range of secondary packaging. The ACP 22 S Ergon case packer, designed to package 33 cl glass bottles in 4×3 cardboard cases with adhesive tape closure, is claimed to create packaging that is both practical and visually appealing. These durable cardboard cases provide an ideal solution for multipacks, offering customisable graphics for product promotion, says SMI.

The ACP 22 S Ergon uses a pick & place system to load loose products from the top. Equipped with a double-picking gripper, the machine can achieve an output of up to 25 packs per minute. The case packer is part of the broader ACP Ergon series, which consists of compact, automatic machines designed for a wide range of products, including glass, metal, plastic, cardboard containers, and rigid bags. These products are packed into American RSC (Regular Slotted Container) cardboard cases, a strong, customisable packaging solution optimised for product size and maximum shelf visibility.

The ACP Ergon packers feature a monobloc structure, combining all essential machine functions in one system, including product separation, insertion into cases via top loading, cardboard  magazine and top sealing.

The machines from the ACP range can pack diverse products – ranging from glass bottles and jars to bags of pasta, rice, and coffee – by simply changing the gripper or suction cup. Additionally, they can handle stacked products, further expanding their range of applications.

The carton magazine, located next to the machine, allows the loading of pre-folded blanks in an easy and ergonomic way. Advanced automation and control are provided by the MotorNet System, based on Sercos fieldbus technology, which ensures full compatibility with Industry 4.0 and Internet of Things (IoT) platforms.
