UNESCO recognises PetStar for its leadership in recycling
PetStar was selected as an official partner of World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development, UNESCO’s campaign to highlight engineering achievements around the world. The appointment as an official partner is part of a year-long global campaign that will include events, audiovisual productions, articles and news stories highlighting engineering achievements around the world, as well as promoting engineering as a career development option.
As an official partner, PetStar’s expertise and experience will be a key part of this 12-month campaign that, under the slogan “Shaping our sustainable future through engineering,” seeks to raise awareness among governments, UN partner agencies, decision-makers, academics and leaders in the public and private sectors about the importance of engineering in achieving the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
For three decades, PetStar’s sustainable business model has offered a comprehensive solution to address global challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, waste and plastic pollution. Through this model, PetStar drives a circular climate economy with a focus on human rights, in full alignment with the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda, which guide its work towards the transformation of circular economy models.
PetStar is a 100% Mexican company, focusing on the collection and recycling of food-grade PET. Since 2011, Arca Continental has been its main shareholder, together with Coca-Cola Mexico and other bottlers of the Coca-Cola Mexico System.
