Amcor’s Secure Flip cap chosen for popular Rauch Yippy kids’ drink in Austria
Amcor is supplying its Secure Flip 26mm tamper evident sports cap to enhance the recyclability of a popular range of children’s drinks in Austria.
Rauch Yippy, first launched in 2003 and developed specifically for children, offers a thirst-quenching drink in a variety of flavours, enhanced with calcium and vitamins and including no preservatives. Key to the ongoing popularity of the brand has been its child-friendly packaging, comprising a colourful PET bottle in a range of shades with an accompanying sports cap.
The adoption of Amcor’s Secure Flip sports cap has now been chosen to improve the recyclability of the entire package. The tethered closure remains attached to the bottle rather than being discarded, enabling both the bottle and the cap to be collected and processed for recycling, where suitable infrastructure exists. Similarly, the coloured tamper-evident band, which enables users to easily and visually confirm that the product has not been altered since it left the manufacturer or filler, is not detachable and is retained within the closure after opening.
“The right packaging has been a critical part of Yippy’s success,” said Gudrun Golob, international brand manager of Rauch Yippy. “With the adoption of the Amcor closure, we are ensuring that children continue to get the best enjoyment from the drink, and at the same time are able more easily to recycle the entire pack, an important benefit for increasingly environmentally conscious youngsters and their parents.”
The Secure Flip’s patented non-detachable tamper-evident band was one of the first to be introduced as an alternative to a detachable tab. For ease of use, the closure’s ergonomically designed Thumb Tab enables intuitive one-handed opening. An audible clip sound confirms opening and closing, and the cap opens to a full and stable 180°, providing easy access to the ergonomic spout.
“Our Secure Flip closure was therefore specifically developed to combine aesthetics with functionality and convenience, and these benefits also help to enhance the pack’s overall sustainability offering,” said Matthias Hammersen, vice president of sales, Rigid Packaging Solutions International at Amcor.
