Eisbär presents compact “Booster” technology to accelerate PET and rPET processing

Eisbär Trockentechnik has introduced a two-stage heating and drying solution designed to improve material quality, shorten changeovers, and increase production stability in PET and recycling operations. The Booster technology is claimed to heat material rapidly and gently, helping processors handle sensitive rPET with fewer risks of degradation.

Eisbär Trockentechnik GmbH, an Austria-based specialist in plastics drying systems, includes a Booster unit in its portfolio, designed to meet the demands of modern PET and rPET processing. The system is designed for fast, efficient heat-up directly before material enters the machine, reducing thermal stress and supporting consistent IV values – critical for recycled PET.

Recycling processes demand stable, dry material at the correct processing temperature – without long delays, wasted energy, or excessive thermal stress on the polymer. Eisbär’s Booster has been designed specifically to meet these demands.
It heats material to the required temperature in a short time, making the entire drying process faster and more controlled. For processors running different batches or grades, the Booster reduces the time needed to reach production readiness.

A key benefit is gentle treatment of recycled material. Instead of keeping material at elevated temperature for long periods, the Booster performs the final heat-up immediately before the material enters the machine. This prevents unnecessary thermal exposure, which is especially critical for PET recyclate with sensitive IV values and helps avoid yellowing and material degradation.

The two-stage configuration also solves a frequent plant-layout problem: limited ceiling height. By separating drying and final heating, the system remains compact while maintaining full performance. At the same time, the main dryer always holds a buffer of dry material, which keeps production stable and avoids interruptions. The Booster’s accessible design enables quick cleaning and fast material changes, reducing downtime and contamination risks.
