Onward to Ljubljana

I am woken up early by the cows of our hospitable farmer.

After two cups of coffee and an Austrian-style breakfast, it’s time to head off towards Slovenia.

I decide to give the motorway a miss and instead take the tourist route over the Katschberg Pass. The Millstädter lake provides a pleasant and welcome mid-morning break before I make my way to the border crossing and on to Ljubljana.

Amazingly, I still have not experienced a traffic jam, at least not going in my direction.

By 5pm I have reached the Slovenian capital and manage to find a parking space right in the city centre almost immediately. On the way there, I’m delighted to come across the Pivovarna Union brewery, bang in the middle of town, impossible to miss with its brilliantly illuminated and colourful signage.

It’s my first visit here so I spend some time to have a look round and my first impressions are of the lively and bustling Old Town, and the general air of dynamism and colour. I feel completely at home here.

The other thing I notice which is very relevant to our work is the popularity of e-scooters. In a mere half hour I’ve noticed several of them zipping quietly round the city. Could this be the start of a growing trend?
