Bericap, Nizhniy Novgorod and the club
An early departure is the order of the day. Like almost every morning, if time and network availability allows, I answer emails and generally check everything is OK. In the afternoon we are supposed to be at Bericap, which still has to be arranged. A few hours later we arrive in Bor, close to Nizhniy Novgorod. This is the Bericap plant.
After a brief conversation with security, we are allowed through, to be met by Sergey Litskevitch, who shows us into the conference room. After the sweltering heat of the Editourmobil, the air-conditioned room is a welcome relief, and I lose no time in engaging Sergey in conversation. To conclude the meeting Sergey takes me round the factory, and introduces me to practically every employee. The meticulous organisation and order is just as impressive as the use of space. It’s a shame we are not allowed to take any photos. I pick up a few more caps which will be shown later on the stand at the Brau Beviale, and then it is finally time to take our leave, and head to the city of Nizhniy Novgorod, where we have some free time to have a little look round.
We end up on a large square, almost directly beside the Volga. We decide to call Sergey to ask him if he would like to join us for a meal. Sergey is up for it and a short time later we find ourselves sitting in a very pleasant Italian restaurant which has fantastic food. Thanks once again for the invite Sergey is a mine of information on what to see and do in the city and we follow his excellent advice.
A fabulous vantage point with the Kremlin (not the Moscow version) proves an impressive sight. Then we go to another recommendation from a Swiss chef who runs a restaurant in Nizhniy Novgorod, and who had previously spoken to us in the Editourmobil. This should be a very good club, he said.
As we enter the club, there can be no doubt about it. This has to be the best place in town. Chic, numerous bars extending over a huge area, an impressive dance floor, and a gallery overhead. On the walls hang screens and huge LED panels on which computer visuals are running. The sound system is spectacular and the place is heaving with happy guests. The entertainment for the evening is provided by an Italian DJ, who manages to whip the crowd into a frenzy until the early hours. We too are over the moon with excitement.
