Plastipak Packaging strikes Gold
Plastipak Packaging’s European arm (formerly APPE) received three gold and two bronze awards at Starpack Awards. The event was held at the National Space Centre in Leicester on 10th September.
Plastipak’s new range of round ThermaLite PET jars, that can be hot-filled and pasteurised, won a bronze Greenstar Sustainable Award. Designed to replace glass jars, significant weight and carbon footprint savings can be achieved through the use of ThermaLite in food applications, asserts the company. The SprayPET Reveal, a world’s first transparent bag-on-valve aerosol system, won a gold award in the Materials Innovation category. The nordictan self-tanning lotion product packaged in a SprayPET aerosol received a bronze award in the Personal Care category. Furthermore the SprayPET team received an award as Packaging Development Team of the Year, with unanimous agreement of the judging panel.
APPE rebranded as Plastipak Packaging on 1 July 2015. Following the move, it was confirmed that Plastipak Packaging Europe will consist of 14 production plants in 12 different countries, led by former APPE MD, Martin Hargreaves.
