Nigeria’s agrofood and plastprintpack sector in the focal point of international suppliers

The Nigerian agrofood and plastprintpack sectors become ever more attractive for international suppliers. Reasons for this are the efforts of Nigeria to strengthen domestic production with the support of foreign technology and know-how. Many multinational market leaders already opened offices and run production sites. The 2nd agrofood & plastipack Nigeria will take place on April 26 – 28, 2016 at the Landmark Centre on Victoria Island in Lagos.

According to VDMA-The German Engineering Association, Nigeria is one of Africa’s top 3 importers of agrofood technology. Between 2010 and 2014 Nigerian imports of food processing and packaging technology have increased from 198 million Euros to 381 million Euros, an annual growth rate of 18%. In the same period imports of agricultural machinery and equipment went up from 97 million Euros to 119 million Euros, an annual growth rate of 5 per cent.

As in 2015, the European Union officially supports the international trade show agrofood & plastprintpack Nigeria 2016. This becomes evident from a letter of 23 June 2015 of Michel Arrion, Head of Delegation and Ambassador of the European Union – Delegation to the Federal Republic of Nigeria and to the Economic Community of West Africa States. Further trust in this event is given by VDMA hosting a German Pavilion.
