SGT invests in a new production unit in France

SGT, which manufactures polyethylene terephthalate (PET) preforms, officially confirmed the construction of its new production site at the Saôneor business park to the north of Chalon-sur-Saône, during a signature ceremony attended by local elected representatives and dignitaries. Sébastien Martin, President of the Grand Chalon region, Jean-Jacques Boyer, Sub-Prefect of Chalon, Guillaume Thiébaut, Mayor of Virey-le-Grand and Alain Gaudray, Mayor of Fragnes-La Loyère.

This 10 000m² factory, on which work will begin next May, should be operational by spring 2019. It will initially employ around forty people. Intended to meet growing demand from the market, the new site will produce PET preforms for both local and foreign customers. After extending the company’s main site at Rezé in the Loire-Atlantique region several times, SGT management has opted for a new geographical location.

“We wanted to continue investing in France, specifies SGT’s CEO, Frédéric Mignot. We also wanted to move closer to our customers in the East and increase our flexibility and speed”.
The future factory, for which ambitious environmental objectives have been set, will have the most advanced production technology and the latest generation automated machines. It will also meet all food hygiene, quality and safety standards.
“This new site provides the perfect example of SGT’s commitment to provide responses to its customers’ needs, continues Mr. Mignot. Our objective is to be constantly quicker-reacting, more innovative and higher performing”.
