Vietnamese PET firm purchases Sacmi PVS-3 preform inspection machine

A leading firm in the Vietnamese beverage sector has purchased two complete preform inspection solutions from Sacmi. Each inspection unit consists of an advanced PVS-3 – the vision system recently developed by Sacmi’s Automation & Inspection System Division – and comes with an automatic centrifuge positioner upstream.

Designed to operate directly on the line and execute all-round inspection of 100% of produced preforms (it can, however, also be used for off-line applications), PVS-3 inspection units feature a downstream soft drop system that gently deposits preforms exiting the vision system in the octabin. This solution is claimed to allow high speed execution of all the standard preform checks, with inspection of opening, finish (especially the thread), body and underside.

Optional system features supplied to this major Vietnamese player include the exclusive Sacmi-patented grid method, which intercepts defects that are only detectable using polarised light (e.g. condensation, pitted surfaces, watermarks, etc.).

As regards vision software, the PVS-3 installs the latest CVS 3000 v.2 64 bit version. Developed entirely by Sacmi and shared across the entire inspection system range, it ensures maximum interoperability between machines and, therefore, a fully integrated inspection approach, says Sacmi. This results in a fully interconnected system capable of executing total quality control, supplying precious additional information on line efficiency and allowing monitoring, also remotely, of every stage of production.
