Fire at Herbold Meckesheim extinguished
According to a newspaper article in the Rhein Neckar Zeitung (RNZ), the recycling machinery manufacturer Herbold Meckesheim, Germany, has been hit by a fire that broke out on the site on Monday night, September 10. Werner Herbold, one of the two managing directors, estimated the damage at five to ten million euros, reports the RNZ.
As announced, a warehouse and the shipping department had been totally destroyed whereas the production halls as well as the office space and the pilot plant have been spared from the fire. The operation could therefore be continued “with temporary restrictions and transferred to existing structures”.
“We do not have logistics at the moment,” explained Managing Director Herbold. The destroyed warehouse has to be demolished and rebuilt. But the company is optimistic to be able to avoid serious supply bottlenecks. Meckesheim Mayor Maik Brandt had already assured on Monday that the community wants to support the operation with a quick solution in the form of a tent as a temporary warehouse on the premises.
