Weener acquires Brazilian moulding activities
Weener Plastic Packaging Group (WPPG), headquartered in Germany, has acquired the shares of its joint venture partner Globalpack and currently owns 100% of Weener Globalpack Indústria Plástica Ltda in Jaraguá, São Paulo, Brazil. The plant produces plastic packaging components for deodorants and antiperspirants. The company has been renamed and will operate as Weener Indústria Plástica Ltda from now on. The transaction has been closed in July 2015.
WPPG has also acquired the additional injection and extrusion moulding business, including the related assembly and decoration operations, at Globalpack’s Jaraguá facility. For this operation, a new company has been established: Weener Brasil Indústria e Comércio de Embalagens Plásticas Ltda. The shares have been transferred in August 2015.
The production site, located in Jaraguá, one of São Paulo’s 96 districts, employs more than 400 people. Weener sees growth potential for its products in the Brazilian market and the factory will play a central role here.
WPPG currently has 24 operations in 16 countries worldwide.
