Plastipak Packaging: Investment in Alabama

Plastipak Packaging Inc. said it will add two manufacturing lines to its Birmingham area facility,a $10.4 million expansion that will create at least five new

jobs. The new lines will be added to its location at the Jefferson County Metropolitan Park in McCalla, Alabama, USA where it manufactures plastic bottles for the beverage industry.

William C. Young, president and CEO of Plastipak Holdings said: “The Plastipak Team is excited to be able to expand our plant again and to continue to serve our regional customers with high quality products that are manufactured in the state of Alabama.”

Plastipak began manufacturing plastic bottles in Birmingham in 2003, when it opened its facility. Since then it has expanded the plant several times, which has allowed the company to serve numerous customers throughout the Southeast of the U.S.. Plastipak Packaging Inc., founded in 1967, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Plastipak Holdings Inc., which is based in Michigan. Plastipak Holdings claims to be a leader in the design and manufacture of high-quality, rigid plastic containers for the food, beverage, and consumer products industries. It operates 45 sites in the United States, South America and Europe, with a total of over 5,700 employees.
