SMI: 30 years of operation
The producer of bottling plants and packaging machines SMI is celebrating its 30th anniversary. The group’s origins date back to the mid-‘70s, when Luigi Nava set up a machine shop in San Pellegrino Terme, Italy. In the beginning the activity of the craftsman’s small enterprise was dedicated to machine finishings for third parties. Some years later this activity was enlarged to include the maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment employed in the bottling and packaging lines of the beverage industry.
However, it was1987 that, in addition to the “F.lli Nava” machine shop, the limited liability company SMI (Sistemi Macchine Impianti) Srl was established. Since then, SMI’s goal has been to bring a new innovative product to the market every year.
To celebrate the anniversary, SMI designed a new logo. It is intended to convey their forward-looking philosophy and innovative products in conjunction with the principles of Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things (IoT) for fully automated and interconnected manufacturing systems.
