CarbonLite building PET recycling plant in Dallas
Plastic beverage bottles will find a new life in a new $62 million plant being built in Dallas, USA, as CarbonLite gets ready to add a second facility to process 100 million pounds of post-consumer PET plastic bottles with the use of 100% green power. Construction is underway in a brand new 230,000-square-foot facility located in the City of Dallas. Start-up is planned for the end of the second quarter 2017, according to Leon Farahnik, chairman and CEO of CarbonLite.
With the addition of the Dallas facility, CarbonLite will become the largest producer of food-grade PET in the world, processing over 200 million pounds of post-consumer beverage containers per year.
The primary equipment suppliers for this project are BHS Group from the United States, Amut S.p.A from Italy, Erema Recycling System from Austria, and Pelletron from the United States.
Nestle Waters North America and Pepsico are the main consumers of CarbonLite raw material in pursuit of their sustainability efforts.
