PETarena at Beviale Moscow 2017 – Focus successfully directed on technology, packaging and knowledge exchange

From 28 February to 02 March 2017, the PETarena special show at Beviale Moscow focused on PET packaging technology. The exhibiting companies presented their products from all along the PET value chain.

The exhibitors used the forum area at the stand to explain their technologies and products. “Purging compound for packaging products – today a must” was the title of the presentation given by Renate Bever and Paolo Balagna, Managing Directors of Ultra System. The focus was on minimising downtime due to the required cleaning process. “Optimisation and lightweighting of bottles – process and payback factors” was the title of the presentation given by Aleksander Broda from Agr. Alexey Dobrokhotov, CEO of APG Eastern Europe, presented “All about PET”. He examined, considering also critical aspects, the future of PET and the potential of bio based polyester materials. The topic “PET keg” was covered in two different speeches: Viktor Karpunin, Executive Director of APG Eastern Europe, gave an overview and outlook on this packaging for beer, while Mathias Pfeiff, ACM, presented a non destructive measurement opportunity for large containers to track information on the CO2 loss.

In addition to these technology oriented topics, market oriented presentations with a special focus on PET recycling were part of the lecture programme. Konstantin Rzaev, Managing Director of Eco Technologies, talked about PET recycling in Russia. Sergey Ovsyannikov, Head of Division for Relations with State Authorities, “Plarus” PET Recycling Plant, discussed the responsibility of PET packaging producers for sustainability and ecology.

The mainly Russian visitors came from all along the PET value chain, filling companies and end-users represented the main proportion. According to the common opinion of the PETarena exhibitors, it was worth to participate at this first PETarena at Beviale Moscow edition.
