Avery Dennison wins International Safety Award
Avery Dennison’s Label and Packaging Materials production operation in Cramlington, UK, has won an International Safety Award with merit from the British Safety Council in recognition of its commitment to keeping its workers and workplace healthy and safe during the 2014 calendar year.
"Safety is more than a priority for Avery Dennison, it is a core value of the company culture," said Kevin Gilroy, EH&S manager at Avery Dennison Cramlington. "It is very gratifying that the hard work carried out by all the staff in Cramlington has been recognized by this important award." Neal Stone, acting Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, congratulated Avery Dennison on its success. "On behalf of the Trustees and staff of the British Safety Council we warmly congratulate Avery Dennison Cramlington and its employees on gaining an International Safety Award with merit for 2015."
During 2014, Avery Dennison ran a different safety campaign each quarter, all of them under the theme "Think Safety" – "Stop Think Act." In the first quarter, the campaign concentrated on Point Of Work Employee Risk (POWER) Assessments. The second campaign addressed safety in the home, and the third was subtitled "Keep Your Focus." The final campaign was geared around calendar events where safety is particularly important: Halloween, Guy Fawkes Night and Christmas.
Now in their 57th year, the British Safety Council International Safety Awards seek to celebrate and promote the success of the winning organisations and their employees in maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for all. "Awards have an important role to play in shining a light on those employers who are taking sensible and effective steps to ensure the health, safety and welfare of their workers, celebrating their efforts and encouraging other businesses everywhere," Stone concluded.
