Company Profile
The KHS Group is a global manufacturer and supplier of filling and packaging systems for the beverage, food and non-food industries. The KHS Group includes the following companies, among others: KHS GmbH, KHS Corpoplast GmbH, KHS Plasmax GmbH and NMP Systems GmbH.
KHS GmbH manufactures modern filling and packaging systems at its headquarters in Dortmund, Germany, and in Kleve, Bad Kreuznach and Worms. The KHS Group's PET expertise is pooled at KHS Corpoplast and KHS Plasmax in Hamburg, Germany, where light PET packaging and innovative coating systems are developed and produced. NMP Systems GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of KHS GmbH based in Düsseldorf in Germany, designs and markets new, resource-saving packaging systems for PET bottles.
The group has an international production and service network. In 2015 KHS was awarded the Top 100 seal of approval for exceptional innovative power and outstanding innovative success among German SMEs. In 2015 the KHS Group and its 4,871 employees achieved a turnover of around €1.172 billion within the Salzgitter consolidation. The companies in the KHS Group are 100% subsidiaries of the MDAX-listed Salzgitter AG corporation.

- 1868 - Formation of Holstein & Kappert (H&K), Dortmund, Germany
- 1879 - Formation of L.A. Enzinger, Worms, Germany
- 1887 - Setting up of the Seitz plants, Bad Kreuznach, Germany
- 1897 - Formation of Enzinger Union Werke AG, Mannheim, Germany
- 1960 - Formation of Holstein & Kappert Inc. Waukesha, USA, as the first international branch of H&K
- 1962/64 - H&K acquires 72 % of a Brazilian mechanical engineering company, the later “KHS Indústria de Máquinas Ltda” in São Paulo
- 1977 - Klöckner-Werke AG (KW) in Duisburg, Germany, initially acquires 51% of H&K. The stake is increased to 100% in subsequent years.
- 1982 - Merger of Seitz Werke GmbH in Bad Kreuznach, Noll Maschinenfabrik GmbH in Minden and Enzinger Union Werke AG in Mannheim into Seitz Enzinger Noll Maschinenbau AG (SEN) with headquarters in Bad Kreuznach.
- 1982 - Klöckner-Werke takes a 24% stake in SEN and increases this stake to more than 90% by 1988/89.
- 1993 - Merger of the companies H&K and SEN to form KHS Maschinen- und Anlagenbau AG in Dortmund, Germany
- 1997 - Acquisition of the Grässle company in Karlsruhe, Germany
- 1997 - Joint venture with an Indian mechanical engineering company to form KHS Machinery Pvt. Ltd.
- 1999 - Acquisition of the Anker company in Hamburg, Germany
- 2000 - Acquisition of the GEA Till company in Kriftel, Germany
- 2003 - Acquisition of Kisters Maschinenbau GmbH in Kleve, Germany, a subsidiary of Klöckner-Werke
- 2003 - Acquisition of KHS Metec GmbH in Niederzissen, Germany
- 2006 - KHS acquires 70 % of a Chinese company, GLM2 in Shantou, whose core competencies are in filling technology for the beer industry. The joint venture operates under the name KHS China GLM2 Co. Ltd.
- 2007 - Salzgitter AG acquires a majority stake in Klöckner-Werke
- 2008 - Klöckner-Werke AG acquires the group of companies SIG Corpoplast, SIG Plasmax, both in Hamburg, Germany, SIG Asbofill in Neuss, Germany, and SIG Moldtec in Essen, Germany.
- 2010 - Conversion of KHS AG (Stock Corporation) into a GmbH (Limited Liability Corporation)
- 2011 - KHS becomes a 100% sub-subsidiary of Salzgitter AG
- 2012 - Ending of GLM2 joint venture
