Extrupet, establishment in 2000, is one of the largest and most advanced recyclers of PET bottle materials on the African continent. The company is specialised in reclaiming and converting waste PET bottles into various grades of PET flakes and chips which are converted into fibre, thermoforming, food-grade and strapping grade material to produce high quality and reliable end-products for use in packaging and other applications.

Extrupet currently recycles more than 5 million PET bottles every day. The recycled PET (rPET) is sold under Extrupet's brand name PhoenixPET®, which has received international acclaim and is certified by the European Food Safety Authority, Global Recycled Standard, BRC Packaging (AA rating) and ISO 9001:2015.

As of April 2022, Extrupet announced the addition of a fourth food-grade recycled PET (rPET) facility, which will increase our recycling capacity by an additional 33,000 tons per year, doubling their capacity to over 60,000 tons per annum.

The company's state-of-the-art laboratory and testing facility ensure all products can be guaranteed and certified as fit for purpose within the specified industry.
