SPPC was established in 1963 under the name “Al-Madina Printing & Publishing Co.”. In 2007 the name has been changed to Saudi Printing & Packaging Company. 30% of the company's shares were brought out to the public offering during this year, knowing that the Saudi Research & Marketing Group “SRMG” and its subsidiaries hold 70% of Saudi Printing & Packaging Company’s shares.

The company operates in the two sectors of Printing and Packaging. The company prints a number of major newspapers such as Alsharq Al-Awsat, Al-Eqtisadiah, Al-Riyadiah, Arab News, Al-Watan and others. Additionally, the company works in the field of packaging and plastic industry and has factories in Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Jeddah, Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah.

The packaging sector is represented by Emirates National Factory for Plastic Industries “ENPI” and its subsidiaries (Taiba Printing & Packaging Co., Flexible Packaging Co., Medina Packaging Co. “City Pack”, Future Pack Factory L.L.C., Future Plus Co., United International Clear Packaging “UICP”, United Security Co., Commercial United Packaging Co. (L.L.C) “CUPCO” and Future Plast Industries L.L.C). Emirates National Factory for Plastic Industries L.L.C is considered one of the major groups in transforming plastic industry and integrated packaging materials in Arab gulf region, as it is distinguished by its high production capacity and acquisition of the latest techniques in plastic industry and packaging materials enhanced over 20 years.
