1850  THE START IN PARMA: Simonazzi Workshops, specialised in mechanical farm equipment, is founded in Parma, Italy by Pompeo Simonazzi, an entrepreneurial blacksmith and iron worker who sees an opportunity to offer his skills to local farmers

1989 BLOWING
  The world's fastest blower, a Sidel SBO 40 producing 36,000 bottles per hour, crosses the Atlantic to run in a US customer's plant. Sidel also starts exploring the filling of packages, with the takeover of Etablissements Ronchard, a small French company that designs and builds filling machines for all kinds of liquids. In the same year Alfa launches its high-speed labelling machines.

  Sidel acquires filling and packing company Remy and Cermex, a company specialising in end-of-line packing and palletisation, to strengthen its complete line capabilities.
1997 COMBI
  Sidel introduces the world's first integrated blow-fill-cap solution, the Sidel Combi, to beverage producers globally, initially for still water. This follows the purchase in the same year of Alsim, a Parma-based Italian manufacturer of filling machines, and Gebo, a global specialist in line design, integration and conveyors, to further strengthen its complete line expertise. At the same time, Simonazzi introduces the Rollquattro, an advanced, high-speed labelling machine for PET containers, with output rates of up to 60,000 bottles per hour.
1998 Sidel launches its second generation of blowers, the SBO Series 2, with an increased output of 1,400 bottles per mould. The company also introduces the first Combi equipped with preform decontamination technology called Disis
1999 Sidel introduces its proprietary Actis (amorphous coating treatment for internal surfaces) technology for improved PET gas barrier properties resulting in extended bottle shelf-life

  Sidel joins the Tetra Laval Group, becoming one of its three main industrial groups, along with Tetra Pak and De Laval
2003 Sidel sells its first blower for packages made with polypropylene (PP), for pharmaceuticals products
2004 The first high-speed Combi is installed, producing 42,000 bottles per hour
2005 SIMONAZZI MERGER
  Simonazzi joins the Tetra Laval Group and merges with Sidel to create a company capable of providing complete liquid-packaging solutions for the beverage industry worldwide. The newly enlarged Sidel launches its third generation of blowers, the SBO Universal, capable of producing 1,800 bottles per mould per hour, and also its new no-contact flow-meter fillers for water (FMw) and for milk and liquid dairy products (FMm)
2006 PREDIS
  Sidel launches Predis, a unique dry preform decontamination system which uses no water and minimal chemicals; its Rollquattro Evolution labelling machine; and the SBO 34 Highspeed, which becomes the fastest blower for small formats producing 61,200 bottles per hour

Sidel launches Capdis, a dry decontamination system for caps which, like Predis for preforms, uses no water and minimal chemicals. In the same year Sidel introduces NoBottle, the then lightest PET bottle for still water in the world, weighing just 9.9 grams for 0.5 litres

  Sidel introduces the aseptic flow-meter filler Sensofill FMa for sensitive products and opens its manufacturing plant in Beijing, capable of producing blowers, fillers, labellers and Combis

Sidel also launches the RightWeight concept bottle for still water. At just 7.95 grams for a 0.5 litre bottle, it is the lightest in the world with a 30 kg top-load. Gebo Cermex is created as a group subsidiary, with the goal to be the world's best engineering, line integration and end-of-line packaging company for a range of industries beyond beverages.
