DePoly has developed a novel, clean technology to recycle PET and Polyester, recycling unsorted, dirty PET waste into virgin-grade raw materials.
DePoly's enhanced recycling process can treat difficult-to-recycle plastics, including multi-layer packaging and colored textiles.
The technology breaks down PET and Polyester back into their original monomers, Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) and Mono-Ethylene Glycol (MEG). The recycled monomers are virgin-grade quality, identical to oil-based counterparts. These PTA and MEG offset the need for new oil extraction to produce plastics and chemicals.
The proprietary and patented reaction occurs at room temperature without additional pressure. Unsorted post-consumer and post-industrial waste streams can be treated that are not washed or pre-processed. This is done using safe and commercially available household chemicals.
DePoly technology provides drop-in solutions for customers products. The PTA and MEG quality is identical to their oil-based counterparts.
The company's technology uses up to 66% lower CO2 emissions in the final product by avoiding carbon emissions of new oil extraction, processing and at end of life.
